Choose EDIUS if
Your studio already cuts in EDIUS, you like building every film by hand, and you would rather pay once than subscribe.
Choose Vantacut if
You have a whole wedding’s footage and the couple’s song, and you want the first cut of the highlight made for you, on a timeline you can change, before you finish it wherever you like.
Which to pick
| If you need | Pick |
|---|---|
| Several layers of heavy 4K cut by hand, on Windows | EDIUS |
| A one-time purchase through a reseller, with free updates for the life of a version | EDIUS |
| The first cut of a wedding highlight made for you | Vantacut |
| An editor on Linux | Vantacut |
| Speech in Indian languages counted as moments in the cut | Vantacut |
The traditional film in EDIUS, the highlight in Vantacut
Many wedding jobs deliver two films: a long traditional video that keeps every ceremony, and a short highlight cut to a song. A studio that already cuts the traditional film in EDIUS does not have to change that. Import the same cards into Vantacut, run Auto-Edit with the couple’s song, and walk the highlight on its own timeline. Export it as MP4, MOV or WebM; it arrives in EDIUS as one rendered movie, so finish the structure in Vantacut first.
EDIUS vs Premiere Pro, and where Vantacut sits
EDIUS and Premiere Pro are both editors you cut by hand. EDIUS is a one-time purchase for Windows, sold through resellers, and built to play several layers of 4K in real time; Premiere Pro is a membership, monthly or annual, with Text-Based Editing that builds a rough cut from a transcript. Neither product page describes a feature that picks the moments from a day’s footage and cuts them to a song. That is the gap Vantacut fills: Auto-Edit makes the first cut, and you finish it in Vantacut or in whichever of the two your studio uses.
Your footage stays on your computer
Editing, playback and export run on your computer, and your original footage and songs never leave it. To find moments, Auto-Edit shares low-quality copies of your clips, still frames and the speech, and the app asks once before anything is sent. The editor works worldwide, in English; credit packs are priced in Indian rupees.
Questions
Can I finish a Vantacut reel in EDIUS?
Yes, as a file. Export the movie from Vantacut as MP4, MOV or WebM and bring it into EDIUS. It arrives as one rendered movie, not as separate clips.
Does EDIUS make a first cut on its own?
Its product page lists AI noise removal, automatic colour correction and speech to text, and lets you plug in third-party AI services, but describes no feature that assembles an edit. In EDIUS, you cut the film by hand.
Is EDIUS a subscription?
No. EDIUS says “you buy it, you keep it”: a one-time purchase, sold through resellers. Vantacut’s editor is free with an account, and only Auto-Edit uses credits.
Does Vantacut run on the same Windows machine as EDIUS?
It runs on Windows 10 or later, so a studio’s EDIUS workstation can usually hold both. Export from Vantacut and import the movie into EDIUS on the same computer, with no upload in between.
