Does Vantacut upload my footage?
No. Your original footage and your songs never leave your computer. To find moments, Auto-Edit shares low-quality copies of your clips, still frames and the speech with the AI services it uses. The app asks once, before anything is sent.
Does Auto-Edit recognise the people in my footage?
Only if you turn it on. Finding people is its own switch. Faces are detected on your computer, and a few face pictures of people who appear often are shared, to ask you who is who.
Will it invent a shot the camera missed?
No. If it is not in your footage, it is not in the reel. Auto-Edit only uses the clips you give it.
Auto-Edit
What does Auto-Edit ask me?
Only what it cannot work out from the footage: who matters most, the tone, what to leave out. Up to three questions, each with a recommended answer, and then it shows the plan before it cuts.
How does the music decide the reel?
The song’s length sets the reel’s length, and Vantacut cuts your footage to its beat. Trim it, or join songs with a cut, crossfade or gap, and the reel follows.
What are the themes?
Auto-Edit has four: Cinematic Story, Documentary, Emotional and Energetic. You pick one alongside your song and brief, before you press Create.
Which languages does it understand?
Speech in 22 Indian languages and English, detected automatically. The app itself is in English.
Can I keep a speech in the reel?
Yes. Keep a line of dialogue in the reel and the song ducks under it.
Does it watch the same footage twice?
No. Each clip is only watched once. Close the app and it picks up where it left off.
Can I change the reel afterwards?
Yes. It opens as a new timeline of ordinary clips on ordinary tracks, so your own edit is never touched. Trim, reorder or recolour it by hand, or undo it in one step, then export with Ctrl+E.
Account and credits
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free one. Press Create account when Vantacut first opens and finish in your browser. Sign in once and editing keeps working offline.
Is the editor really free?
Yes. The editor, the colour page and export are free with a Vantacut account, and no payment details are needed to sign up. Only Auto-Edit uses credits.
What costs credits?
Only Auto-Edit, by the minute: new footage the first time it is analysed, and the reel it makes, each charged only once that work is done. New accounts start with free credits. Importing, editing, grading and export never cost a credit.
Editing and export
Does it work offline?
Editing does. Sign in once, and playback, the timeline and export never wait on the network after that. Auto-Edit needs a connection to analyse your footage.
Can I grade the footage?
Yes. The colour page has wheels, curves, LUTs and scopes, plus Auto Balance Colour to even out white balance across the cut.
Which formats does it export?
MP4, MOV or WebM, rendered on your computer from your originals at full resolution, with GPU encoding where your graphics card supports it.
