System requirements
Editing and export run on your computer, so the machine matters more than the connection. Only Auto-Edit needs the internet.
| Platform | Package | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | 64-bit installer (.exe) | Windows 10 or later. A per-user install; no administrator needed. The installer is not signed yet, so Windows may say “Windows protected your PC”: choose More info, then Run anyway. Updates arrive in the app. |
| Linux | Debian package (.deb), amd64 | Ubuntu 24.04 or later. Installs to /opt/vantacut, with a menu entry. The app tells you when a new version is out; install it the same way. |
| macOS | Not yet | Choose macOS above and leave your details to hear when it is ready. |
- A graphics card helps: export uses GPU encoding where your card supports it.
- Footage stays on whatever drive you keep it on. Clips are read from there, never copied, and heavy footage gets light proxies so playback stays smooth.
Install
- Windows: run the installer. It installs for your user only.
- Linux: install the package with
sudo apt install ./vantacut_x.y.z_amd64.deb, using the file name you downloaded.
First sign-in
- Open Vantacut.
- Press Create account, or Sign in if you already have one, and finish in your browser.
- Return to Vantacut. You are in, with nothing to pay. Sign in once and editing keeps working offline.
