The job
Use Resolve when the look is the job. Use Vantacut when the first assembly is the job.
Side by side
| Question | DaVinci Resolve | Vantacut |
|---|---|---|
| Colour | A real colour page, nodes, a grading suite. | Auto Balance Colour is a white-balance pass across mixed lighting. Remove it if you already have a look. |
| Audio | Fairlight, for people who mix. | The music bed drives length and cuts. Speech you care about, you mix on the timeline yourself. |
| Free tier | A capable free editor exists. | A launch licence for the editor; Analyse and AI Cut spend credits, quoted first. |
| Wedding assembly | You still watch the cards and cut the film. | AI Cut proposes the film; you keep it or you do not. |
| Machine | Local, heavy, excellent on a fat GPU. | Local editing and export. Only Analyse and AI Cut need the network, on previews, not originals. |
Choose DaVinci Resolve if
You grade for a living and the assembly is already done, or you enjoy building the film by hand in a suite you know.
Choose Vantacut if
You need tonight’s highlight from today’s cards, and colour is a pass you can take or leave.
Your footage stays on the machine
Editing, playback and export run on your computer. Analyse sends short, low-resolution previews of each clip, which carry the recorded sound, and the app asks you to agree first. Originals are not copied, moved or uploaded. The editor runs worldwide, in English; prices are in Indian rupees.
Questions
Can I grade a Vantacut export in Resolve?
Yes. Export a movie. That is a file, not a project interchange.
Is Auto Balance Colour a Resolve replacement?
No. It evens mixed lighting so the first cut is watchable. A grade still happens in a grade tool.
Linux?
Vantacut ships a .deb. Resolve has its own Linux story. They do not replace each other.
